After not getting to sleep until almost 12 I got up this morning at about 6. We ate breakfast at the café and then headed to Kota Kinablau to the resort. After putting our bags in storage we headed out to an island to do some snorkeling. It was so much fun! I have only been one other time and that was my senior year. This time I learned how to dive so a whole new world opened up for me. It was great to actually be able to get up and close to everything. The fish were great. I didn’t know clown fish were so mean. One attacked me and bit my mask! Saw a big jelly, a huge buffer fish, a giant clam (but it was only the size of a foot ball), a loin fish, barracuda, huge sea urchins, sting rays, and other amazing critters.
No one got seriously sun burned, though we got pretty toasted. Afterwards we returned to the hotel to get ready for supper. The shower had hot water. Our old hotel didn’t so I haven’t had a hot shower for three weeks! It felt so great.
We took a bus downtown and ate at Little Italy for supper. Great Italian food, just not big portions. Afterwards the students sang Count Your Blessings. While they were singing I saw someone that was sitting at a table start to sing with them! It turns out he is a Sunday pastor in the area. He invited us to sing at his church, but we will be in Canada next week Then we walked all the way back to the hotel through downtown. It was fun. After we got back a few of us went bowling! It was great fun.
