Dec 26

i think this has been one of my favorite christmas's in a long time. the whole family got together on christmas eve and we opened our presents then. it was nice and low key. just a fun time to hang out. then for christmas mom invited some other people over to eat and fellowship for the day. thats what christmas is about, helping others. so ya, it was nice
i have been trying to catch up on my sleep. i set my alarm for 9:30 this morning but i just couldent get up until after 10:30. i hadent realized how much sleep i lost on this tour. i am very thankful that we have a break where i dont have any responsibilities and can take the time to do what i need to do.
but i am looking foward to getting to work. we have a lot ahead of us to do. but that can wait, until then its break time :)

dec 22

i cant tell you how happy i am to be done with tour. it was long and hard, and we did a whole lot of traveling. i must admit that even though there were some hard times all and all the tour was a tramindis blessing. not everything worked out according to the plan, and there are some things that we need to look at and change for next time. but thats alright. for the most part the students were very positive and had a great time. and i know many people that came recived a wonderful blessing. even thought the music is great i can go a few weeks without listening to it :)
GYC was awsome! i wish i hadent been so tired, i could have gotten more out of it. it was wonderful to see old friends. i saw some people i hadent seen since '04. the speackers were great. it was a wonderful spiritual experiance. i really like how they dont want GYC to just be a one time experiance, but more of a life style change.
the weather up north has been nasty, so the bus left early sunday morning. they were going at 15 mph at times! they got in at 3 am. even though a lot of flights got canceled every one was able to get a flight today. i hope the weather clears up by january :) i had three students spend the night here last night. two were able to travel today and one leaves tomarrow morning. i thought i was going to get a break, but not yet. the job of a dean never ends :)
hope you all have a great break too. God bless.

Dec 16

wow. tour is almost over! let me give you a quick summery:
left tue. night. slept in belingham.
wed. morning traveled to beaverton. practiced with Blaylock and performed a concert.
left thur. for shasta. had a concert there.
fri. night had a concert in clovis.
two concerts on Sabbath, templeton hills and Milpitas.
on sun day we went to montery aquariam then headed over to madesto. in the morning we headed to yosemity. about an hour and a half out we found out there was to much show there. so we turned around and went to san fancisco. we toured some old boats, but it was raining. it was a little boring. then right before sundown we went to the golden gate bridge. we all got out of the busses and walked across. pretty fun. we spent the night at puc, and now every one is practicing. we are going to go to elms haven this afternoon then head down to napa for our last concert before GYC.
all and all its been very busy. averaged about 5 hours of sleep a night. but God is good. things have been going quite smoothly. there have been a few hick ups, but really not that bad.
hope your holiday season has been going well. have a great week.

Dec 7

it has been a super long weekend. we left at 5 am for a tour in the lower mainland. we did three concerts and then went shopping. we made it back around 9. then we had another concert today, but i stayed back and decorated the cafe for open house which was this evening. i made this really cool arbor through the doors to the cafe. i covered it with pine bows. it looked really cool. they put pine bows and candles on the tables and i strung lights all round the room. it was nice. the we all went over to the girls dorm. i must say their rooms we super nice! just incredible. the guys had nothing on them. i was impressed. the girls didn't leave the guys dorm until late, then i had to talk to a student, so i am tired and ready for bead. here are some pics of my room.

Dec 4

and another day is ended :) we leave for the california tour next wednesday morning at 4:30 !!! but i am excited because i am going home :)
i have been sick since last wednesday, but i have been fighting it for all i am worth and by to tomorrow i think i will be all better. praise the Lord!
yesterday Elaine and i went up fountain valley road to get decorations for the cafe for sunday. on our way back a very large black bear ran across the road. he should be in bed by now. its way past his lights out. its been a big problem this year because there isn't enough food for them.
well, have a great weekend and God bless. i hope all is giong well for you andrew. i havent talked with you latly but you are in my prayers.

Dec 2

as Biz put it, to day was the shortest day of the week (my day off). i have been fighting sickness for the last week. right now all it is is a sore throat. i am hoping to be done with it soon. i basically cant talk, which is a little rough since i have to teach tomorrow. but i have a video they can watch, so i am saved.
i went and got christmas trees for the guys this afternoon. it was pretty fun. i didnt know i was such a picking christmas tree hunter. i figure there are enough out there that i dont have to take the first one i see. there are plenty of goods ones to be found, it just takes a little time. for supper i went to Robert and Vanessa's. we watched some of the set to screen pod casts for the movie Australia. pretty impressive.
well, i need to go to bed so i can get better. merry christmas!

Nov 28

i am so thankful for the Sabbath day. unfortunately it wont be much of a rest day this week. this evening we had a concert in Lytten, which meant that our after noon was cut very short. i dont like it when a person does not have enough time to get ready for the Sabbath. in Ex. 19, when God is telling the people to get ready to meet Him He tells them to sanctify them self's and to wash their clothes. i dont know of any place where sanctification is referring to something out ward. it always has to do with the heart.
after lunch Ryan, Ceri and I worked on decorating the tree in front of the school building. i was putting the lights on but i ran out about four feet shy of the top. so it all looks wonderful as long as you dont look up :) as soon as we can get some more we will make it look all nice and pretty. its got little golden bells and red bows. its very pretty.
i am looking forward to the up coming CA tour. its going to be a long one :) i am going to see if some of my friends will be able to make it to some of the concerts. it will be a good experience for them. i am not sure why, but i cant think of too many of them that are actually solid Christians. i dont know why i ever hung out with them. we really never had much in common. i guess God want to use me to reach them. so i will do my best.
well, its going to be a busy day tomorrow. we leave at 3 for another concert. o joy. thankfully i am not singing any more. i can just sit back and listen to the heavenly music (accompanied by the occasional cough).

Nov 27

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans. living among Canadians some times makes it hard to remember the holidays of our home land. thankfully the Canadians around here are nice and accommodating to our special needs. the cafe prepared some wonderful delicacies to satisfy our picky palates. they made all the classic thanksgiving classics, some really good gluten which, although quite satisfying, still does not surpass that made by mom :) speaking of which, the rest of my family were together today at my older brothers place and had dinner there. they called me and passed the phone around. it was very nice to know that they hadn't forgotten about me. i am glad i will be able to see them soon.
well, since Craig has decided that he is going to go back home and spend time with his family and start a new life we have hired a new guy's dean to come in and help us in the dorm. he came over tonight to get acquainted with how things run. i think he is going to fit in really well. i am encouraged.
there is a native lady in town who is a single mother of two, a 10 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. she is doing her best to raise them, and i think she is doing a wonderful job, but she feels that it would be nice to have some help with her children, especially with her boy. so Mrs. Roque and i went into town this after noon to meet with them. the meeting went very well. as we were talking the boy and his sister were playing tag. after a while he came over and tagged me. well, that started a full blown game. i found out the hard way they both have lots of energy. it all went very well, i think i am really going to enjoy working with them. at the end the little girl reminded me that next time we play i am it first :)
i would like to end by saying how thankful i am to God for His guidance in my life. He has lead me all over the world, and now He is taking care of me here in Canada. i would truly be lost if it wasn't for His guiding Providence. and second, for the friends i work with. i could not ask for a friendlier, more forgiving, more Christ centered group of people to work with. i praise God for them every day.

Nov 23

just got back from a wonderful weekend of camping! i took nine guys up Rough creek canyon until the road ended. thankfully there was a little stream not far from where we parked the van. we got there about an hour before sundown. we madly and wildly dashed about getting ready for the cold night. (at least most of the guys did, some... i am not sure what they were doing :) six of us were in one large shelter while the other four paired off and made their own. about sundown it started to snow, so we quickened our pace. about three hours after starting we were able to hunkier down and make some supper before we headed to bead. with six of us crammed into one shelter we were actually quite warm. thankfully it didn't snow all night, only a nice dusting. for Sabbath we all just split up and explored nature on our own. i saw a ton of tracks, including squire, rabbet, and even bobcat. also saw a wood pecker. great time. sunday night was about the same, warm and cramped :) the thermometer on the van said -6 C in the morning. drove the van down the mountain a ways and went on another hike, then made lunch before heading back in the after noon. it was cold but well worth it. and the view was spectacular!!!!!

Nov 21

well, we are leaving to go camping in 15 min. the weather down here is pretty cold. i wonder what it will be like 1300 m higher? lets just say its going to be cold. we will be building shelters and all that good stuff to keep us toasty warm :) i hope every one has a great time, i am looking foward to it. hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Andrew, great talking to you today. i pray for your family every day. God bless.

Nov 18

i love tuesdays! i got to sleep in till 7:30, and had and hour to read my Bible and have prayer. i have been reading through the new testament and now i am Revelation. God is so good!

went and "got pine bows" for the dorms in the morning. i know its work, but i had a fun time any way :) then in the after noon i went down to the shop and worked on a few things. all and all it was a great day. my new camera got here today. i was thinking how i could show you what it looked like and i came up with a great idea. take a picture of a mirror ;) its got 6x optical zoom and it runs on AA. it will be nice for back packing. speaking of back packing, i get to go camping this weekend!! i am so excited. it will be cold. but i want to teach some of the guys a few survival techniques. shoudl be fun. and here are some close ups of some of the fun things i have been working on.

Nov 16

i usually get half of sunday off, but for the last couple of weeks i have taken a few guys and cut up fire wood for JC and Burt. i started at Burt's today at 9 and worked with three crews until 4:30. a hour and a half off for lunch means six hours of chain saw and loading wood in to the truck. and let me tell you, they were not light rounds. my arms are so sore!! but it is a good feeling :) it was nice to get some of the guys out side and working. two of the guys really didn't want to help at all. they just wanted a lazy day, but i wouldn't let them. to their great amazement they had a wonderful time and actually enjoyed them selves :) that was a great encouragement for me. it was like pulling hens teeth to get them to come.
last night for family night we all went over to Ewa's and had supper together. we played mexican dominoes. quite a fun game if you ask me. and Craig's birthday is coming up, so we all said a little something that we appreciate about him.
now we are headed into a new week. i have class tomorrow and i haven't studied any thing about it yet :) thankfully my class is second period. plenty of time to study for it ;)

Nov 14

what a wonderful day. even though Fridays are busy i really tend to enjoy them. mostly because i know Sabbath is coming next :) we had worship at sundown, and just as it was starting i looked outside. it was awesome!!! there was a wonderful yellow glow in the light. it wasn't just the clouds, the whole air seemed golden. i haven't see anything like it. the clouds were just grand. i can just imagine what heaven is going to look like in the golden city illuminated by the glory of God!!! our vespers this evening was about the Sabbath and how God wants to spend time with us. the more i study and pray the more i see how important it is to have an actual relationship with Jesus. its not about a simple formula you can just follow, like paganism, its all about a relationship.

i have had some Birch bark laying around my room for a few weeks and decided to do something with it yesterday. so i tore some into strips and made some baskets. they were a little difficult to make, but well worth the time. Mrs. Roque thinks i should sell them. we will see ;) i also set up my Christmas tree. i like it. nice and small, with lots of randomness :)

Nov 12

we have been with out Internet for the last few days and it finally came back on today!! there was great rejoicing all over campus :) we all forgot what it was like before our whole lives depended on this "vital" connection to the world around us. but i will admit, i am very thankful it is back on:)
yesterday on my day off i spent most of my time down at the shop. last time i was up at the Stryen i got a chunk of Ceder. i split it off into thin shakes. i sanded some of them down and made one small box and a large one (about 7X12X3). just some fun stuff. i am really starting to enjoy wood working. i could really get into it. but for now i think i will just dabble. i also have been trying to tan some hides. i have that one form a few weeks ago and some old beaver hides from a few years ago. the beaver hides are doing well. i hope the other guy will too.
Bible class is going well. we just finished learning about the lamp stand. check this out. Jesus said "ye are the light of the world." in the Tabernacle the lamp stand was the only form of light. so when Jesus says that we are the light, He means just that, you are his light to the world. in Revelation the 7 candle sticks represent the 7 churches, who are God's lights to the world. we can't expect someone else to do the work God has designed for us to do. exciting, eh?
well, time for bed. God bless.

Nov 7

dont ask why i am up so late. its a long story. i just wanted to post some pics of some cool things. the first thing is something i made today. its basically a wooden bike lock. it works exactly the same way. when the key is inserted you turn the four middle circles and it locks it in. to unlock it all you need to do is line up the notches and it opens up. it will take a bit to polish it up, but i think its pretty cool :) the second thing is the fire piston which i talked about earlyer. so ya. i think i am going to go to sleep now.

Nov 5

and yet another busy day. i got up at 3 to get a shower and get every one else up so we could leave to find some snow for the video recording. the bus pulled up to the dorm at 4 but every one was so slow (which happens all the time) that we didn't leave until 5. we traveled for 3 hours! we recorded at two different locations. i was really impressed with most of the students because the pitched in and helped set things up and stayed in order during the recording. there were a few that "stepped out of line," but that's to be expected. they are kids after all. i kept warning them that they were going to get cold and wet, but they wouldn't believe me until they were cold and wet. we had a fun time trying to get lunch prepared on time. i tell you what, a persons true self really comes out when food is involved. you would think some of them were dieing of starvation:) but all is well.
i am glad its all over. now i am going to get a good nights sleep.

Nov 4

well, we got a new president today. very interesting. o well.
other then that i had a great day off. i was able to catch up with some friends on chat this morning. that was very nice. i was able to get a ride into town and cash my checks, which is always a nice thing to do. and i finished my wood carving projects i was working on, and finished up my froe. i will take some pics of what i have been doing and post them soon. i just really enjoy working with my hands :)
my mom got me a leatherman for my birthday, and that just got here. so i am pretty happy about that.
we are doing some recording for the new dvd tomorrow. joy of joys :) we are laving at 4 am, so i had better get some sleep.

Oct 31

i am so happy that its Sabbath!!! last night after i got back from Kamloops Craig let me go to bed early. so i got like 9 hours of sleep. it was so glorious. i am glad i work with such wonderful people :) right after lunch i subbed grade 9 english. all they had to do was read a story, so i got to sleep for a bit of it :) it was nice.
when i was in Kamloops i got a spoon gouge! i am very happy with it. i have been doing a fair bit of carving and needed some new tools. so thats some fun stuff.
for vespers tonight Craig talked about the foot washing ceremony. i got a new appreciation for this reminder that God has given us. i have some people i need to talk to before church tomorrow.
i just have to praise the Lord for this week. i have never been so tired and yet kept such a good attitude. and that is only by the grace of God. and i have never been a morning person (Andrew, you can attest to that :) but i have consistently been getting up around 5:15 and having at least and hour of reading and prayer most mornings!! most of the time i cant even sleep after that. its been so wonderful. i just have to praise God for His love and goodness.

Oct 29

its 10:30 pm and i just finished my day :) a very long day. i didnt get to bed until midnight, then had to get up at 2:15 to unalarm the doors so because two of the guys had to go to Vancouver today. i went right to bed after that, but was reawaken by David C. who had gone out to get in the car but had forgotten the food on the couch behind the locked front door. so i had to get up to let him back in. my alarm went off and 5:15 so i could get a shower before plugging in the computers at 5:30 so some of the guys could do their home work. so my day was already half over by the time i got to breakfast. and on top of all that i had to teach class! thankfully i got to rest a bit this afternoon. but i just found out tonight that i have to go to Kamlooops tomorrow with the students :) joy of joys. i enjoy going, but it means that i am not going to be getting much rest. even this summer when i was working the 9 pm to 3 am shift at camp meeting i was able to get more sleep then i have this week. but you know what, God has given me the strength to continue through it all. and i praise Him mightily for that!
i got an awesome new toy today. my mom sent it to me. its called a fire piston. it works the same as a diesel engine. its a small, wooden cylinder with a piston. you put a little tender in it and hit the piston really hard. the compression causes a coal to form from which you light a fire. its very neat ;)

Oct 27

i cant remember the last time i was this tired :) it all started on Sabbath evening. we had a wonderful worship to close the Sabbath. it was a video called "how great is our God." it was about how large the stars are and yet how God cares so deeply for each of us individually. very powerful. but right after that is when the fun began ;) we were all preparing for international supper. so fist we divided up all the fun to the respective booths. that took almost an hour to get it all done. then every one was cooking and i was organizing till really late. i didn't get to bed until after 12. then i was up at 7:30 for breakfast. didn't even get a shower! i had about an hour before the program stared to get a little rest, but it wasn't much. but by the time the program started it was all worth it. every thing went very smoothly. the guests filed in, got their food in an orderly fashion, and ate in the assembly room. it was a lot nicer then last year. i am super glad it all went so well. and at the end the students really got in there and cleaned up fast and we all got to bed at a decent hour. then today i had to teach our dorm cleaner how to clean. (that is an on going proses.) and then i had class this after noon, after which i help Mrs. Roque clean the student life storage closet. so i have had a full weekend :) tomorrow i am so posed to have off but i have at least two meetings and who knows what else. so o well. at least i can sleep in a little.
a real burden that i have felt the last few days is how to make my Christianity super real. because if i truly believe that God is so posed to be the center of my life, then that means that i need to be spending a whole lot more time with Him then i have been (among other things i should change). so how much of my day needs to be focus wholly to Christ? i am not sure exactly what the ideal is. i mean, i still have a life to live. and with my schedule i would like a little down time. plus i have some fun hobbies i very much enjoy doing. but i have come to the realization that even though i my not see exactly where i need to be, i know i am not there yet. so i am going to be giving more and more of my time to Him. where ever i can find the time, or where i need to make it. i just want a tight relationship with Jesus. i know He has been working in my life in amazing ways. this whole weekend, even though i was stressed and tired, the Lord helped me keep my cool even during the trying times (and there were a few). Phl. 3:14 "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." thats all i can do, so thats what i am giong to do :)

Oct 23

God is good. He has consistently gotten me up before 5:15 for the past week, which has given me a full hour of study and prayer before i even start my day! i have never liked getting up early, but has been so nice to spend that extra time with God. i really enjoy my sleep, but even though i go to bed later then i would like, God has kept me going through the day. Seth was so nice to night for doing lock up for me. i usually get to do it, which some times makes for very late nights.
on tuesday, my day off, i went up to rough creek (an hour and a half hike) and got some birch bark. its not as high quality as i would like, but it works. i have been having some fun with it the last couple of days. i will post some pics when i make something good. i have never worked with it before, so its all new to me.
i went over to Ewa's after lunch for a little bit today. she gave me some Polish tea that was made form dried flowers and dried fruit chuncks. you kind of have to eat it as you go. its quite good, but different.
we have intertaional supper comming up. that has been a bear to put together. i hope every thing goes well. i am not doing this agian next year. i dont mind helping, but i wont head it up. not my type of project :)
i have been readin in the new testiment for my devotions in the morning. there is a lot in there about devoting your life to God. things like "run the race" and "fight the good fight." when you fight you put every thing you have into it. messages to young people says " cultivate every faculty." (p. 34) thats somthing i can deffinatly work on. i have to ask my self "am i diong all that i can?" all i can do is ask for the Lord's help and "stive for the mastery." powerful stuff.
i think thats about it. God bless.

Oct 19

wow, the has been a very busy weekend. Sabbath was a little busy, but not too bad. we had a wonderful baptism in the after noon. one of our freshman chose to publicly show his commitment to God. the water was cold, but that didn't stop him from doing what the Lord has asked him to do. the for the rest of the afternoon the students practiced for the Festival of Rejoicing. its a wonderful time where anybody can get up and praise the Lord how ever they feel. it was a very spiritual evening.
today was quite a bit busier. craig had to go pick up a student so i was the main dean on duty. we went ice skating this morning, so i didn't get the morning off like i usually do. then after lunch we had an etiquette meeting. (you have no idea how long it took me to find how to spell that) it went very well. but it took most of the afternoon. then, after we got back to the dorm, our little, black, homeless child came to visit us. he climbed the tree thats right next to the porch. so there were about ten guys taking pictures from about four or five feet away. quite an experience.
check this out. i was reading this morning in Philipians. ch. 4:13 is probably the most famous verse from that book. "i can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." i know you have heard this a million times. but look at the context. verse 11 says "...for i have learned, in whatsover state i am in, therewith to be content." i think contentment is one of the hardest things to learn, but here paul is saying that no matter where he is he will be content through Christ. that just really spoke to my heart this morning. (and then the devil hit full force for the whole rest of the day. but i was talking with one of the students this evening and he brought out that satan is always going to be attacking. its a promise that he will. but its also a promise that "i can do all things through Christ." so even though i felt pretty down for most of the day, i know that i can accept Christ's forgiveness and move on :)

Oct 17

God has been so good to me these last 22 years! i look back on my life and i can see God's tender hand guiding me all the way. i would not be that man that i am if any piece of my life had been lift out. praise the Lord!
for the last two mornings (and i pray it continues) God has awakened me early to spend time with Him. i am not much of a morning person, but He didn't take that into consideration. He got me up any way. and i am glad He has.
instead of a cake the cafe made cookies today. and they spent the time to make this one (or two i guess) special for me :) i feel very special.
p.s. this is the first time i put a picture in my posts :) i hope you are all proud of me. i just ordered a new camera, so i will be taking more pictures, which will mean more photos on here :)

Oct 13

its thanksgiving break now so most of the students have gone home. i only have seven guys in the dorm right now :) for the weekend i took six of them camping up the the Stryen cabin. it was very beautiful up there. the weather was really nice, just a bit chilly. it was a very relaxing trip.
and today was thanksgiving! the ladies working in the kitchen made a most wonderful meal for everyone. the gluten was good, but my mom's is still better :)
all and all it has been a very quiet and relaxing time while everyone is gone. but it will be nice when the students do get back. but until then, i will enjoy the peace and quiet while i can ;)

Oct 7

well, i had today off, so that was nice. i watched some unicycling videos and decided that i want to learn a few more tricks. i also want to get a 20" trials uni. i am looking at the torker DX. its a good uni for a good price. then all the shorter kids could learn on it too. i tried doing a couple of things on my uni but i fell and hit my shin. it would be a lot easer with a 20".
other then that not much is happening. break is comming up, for which i am most thankful. every is really looking foward to it.
winter is surly coming. the weather is getting colder and the days shorter. but that is what you have to expect when you live up north.
class is gong well. we just finished talking about the alter of burnt offering. now we are looking at the laver.
here is something cool. the wood that was prefered to burn on the alter was fig wood. check this out: the two places in the Bible were figs stand out are Adam and Eve and the tree that Jesus cursed when it didnt have any fruit. first, Adam and Eve: clothes represent rightousness. they tried to cover them selves up, which we call self-rightousness. second, the cursed tree: the leaves were there meaning it looked good on the out side. but it had no fruit, meaning it lacked the spirit of God. once again, doing it on its own and not allowing God to chainge it. this shows us that when we try to save our selves we litterly "burn" Jesus. another part of the sanctuary that points to the plan of salvation.

Oct 3

man, the last couple of days have been full! Wednesday i had to do wake up, teach class, and do lock up. then yesterday i went to Kamloops so i had to wake up at 5:30. it was nice, because i did a fair bit of shopping. we got back around 6:30, then had to work in the dorm and did lock up again. so i am a little tired right now. and this afternoon we leave for our first tour. should be lots of fun :) its a short one, so that's nice. we will be back Sabbath evening.
i think that's about it.

Oct 1

well, it was the first day of October. this is one of a favorite months, mostly because in this month 22 years ago i was born.
this is also the longest day in the week for me. both craig and seth have off today, so i did wake up this morning, which means my day started at 5:50 am. i dont usually do mornings, so it takes a little for me to get going that early. then i have class prep followed closly by the class its self, which combined takes up pretty much my whole morning. the after noon is generaly not to bad, which is a nice time for me to do a little relaxing. but then the evening comes and its full throttle again. i spend most of my time trying to keeps the guys from bouncing off the walls and chasing eachother all over the dorm. then to top it off i do lock up as well. so ya, a full day. and this week i am going to Kamloops wich means i have to get up at 5:30am tomarrow.
today i did a fair bit of unicycleing. i am really happy Ceri decided to start riding hers, which ment that i had to get my fixed and start riding too. i forgot how much i really enjoy it. i am glad there are quite a few students that are interested in learning, it makes for a more balenced characture :)

today was another long day. i am convinced Satan wants to keep me so busy that i cant spend time with my Lord. i slept through breakfast, which i usually do on Sabbath morning. i made it down to sabbath school on time, but all the preliminary stuff took so long that we only had 25 min. to have any study. the sermon was alright but not all that spectacular.
usually on sabbath afternoon i really enjoy going for a walk with the students. for the past couple of weeks we have gone down to the river and had a nice, peaceful time playing in the sand. this week we had out reach planned for Sunday afternoon, but that got changed to sabbath afternoon. so we all piled into the buses at 2 and headed to Lillooet. we passed out flyrs for the international supper coming up next week. there were a few hiccups, but all and all it went well. we passed out about 750 flyers! i really hope that many people dont show up! i dont know what we would do with them all.
tonight and tomarrow the students are working with Blaylock. should be lots of fun for them :)
right now i cant sleep, so thats why i am writing this at 12:30. honest, i dont usually stay up this late. but i am going to try and sleep now, so good night.

well, another work week is over and now it is sabbath! i so much enjoy the sabbath. God sure had a great thing in mind when He decided to make a day of rest.
this week went by super fast. every thing was all messed up on Monday because of the guys that were lost. i had Tuesday off, most of which i accidentally spent sleeping. i hate wasting my day in bed, but every once in a while it happens. Wednesday Craig had off so i picked up on the stuff he usually does. Thursday wasn't so bad, i was able to relax a bit. we had student life meeting and a dorm meeting which took up most of the morning. then this after noon i had to spend almost and hour and a half trying to get the guys to clean their rooms. it was super annoying. i had to give out free labor to three guys today!
for vespers tonight we did a little test your faith thing. three people were called to the front and were presented with a question and they had to find verses to answer it. it was a lot of fun and very challenging.
tomorrow we are going into Lillooet to pass out invitations for the international supper in October. should be lots of fun.
well, its late, so i am going to bed.

Sep 22

to day was another long day. thankfully i was able to wake up at a reasonable time and have a nice breakfast of biscuits and gravy before i got too busy. after breakfast i Jeremy put together to equipment for him to take in his truck up the mountain to assist in the search. some shovels, a chain saw, tarps, food, water, blankets, and the like. right after that i had class. i knew it was useless to try and teach what i was going to, so i decided to teach about wilderness survive. considering the situation at hand i was quite appropriate.
the search and rescue teams got started right after sun rise. they had a large helicopter with infer red and an airplane that took surveillance photos, plus quite a few ground crew. it started snowing around 2 am, and the fog was really think most of yesterday and didn't let up till around 10 or so. it was still around and made it hard to the air crew. right after lunch, at 12:35 the announcement at the school was made that they had been found!!!! they were cold, wet, tired, and very happy to be found :) it took a little bit to get them air lifted out to Lillooet and then on to the hospital to get checket out. every one was fine, i havnet talked to them all yet, but from what i can gather they all did quite will and were very positive. they made it back to the school just in time for worship were we had a wonderful prayer session and some of them told thier stories. now they are all sleeping in thier nice, warm beds.
we are going to be reviewing all that went on and try to make sure that this never happens again. we are glad every thing turned out well, but a lot of this could have been avoided from the begining.
praise God for His goodness!!!

Sep 21

wow, to day was crazy. this morning started off with a phone call from a parent at around 6. the i slept through breakfast and spent the time getting stuff ready for the day. the neighbor called and was wondering if a few guys could help him in his fields. son i had to get people together for that. we left for ice skating and had a wonderful time. after wards we went and got subway for every one. well, that's when the real fun began. you see, this weekend fa group of about forty went up mt. Askom. over the weekend i snowed and one of the girls twisted her ankle. i cant go into all of the details here because that would take way to long. lets just say it has been a long day. a hellecopter was called to get the girl, but it was too foggy. so shee ended up walking out. then later it was found out that one of the groups got seperated from the rest. i guess thier batteris died because we havent heard from them in a while. so the hellecopter got called back out to find them, but they didnt. so now search and rescue have been called and they will haed out at sun rise to try and find them. the are cold and wet. no body was prepard to get snowed on and most of the kids havent done much camping before. so for now we just pray that they stay in one place and that they find them in the morning.
the whole situation has been compounded by miss coomunication and lack of any coomunication at all. so we are going to turn this into a great learning experiance and we will be way better prepared next time :) so for now we will just have to wait and see how things turn out in the morning.

wow, today has been a busy day. Wednesdays are always hard. i have to do wake up, teach class, and bring the grade 11 students their laptops for Bible class in the after noon. plus the fire alarm at the dorm keeps going off every 5 min. (no joke). so i haven't had any time to sit down and think at all today. now its 2 am and i am just going to bed.

Sep 14

just got back from a simply wonderful weekend of camping. i took nine guys up to the Stryen cabin. i love that cabin so much. for Sabbath all the guys went in different directions and enjoyed nature and solitude for a couple of hours. on Sunday we got a little work done around the cabin before we left. if i could i would go up there every other weekend.
we want to build another cabin closer to the school. we have some really cool plans but we have to find a location first. its a large commitment to build a cabin, so we need to make sure we build it in the right place.
for supper we had a campus picnic in the orchard. we had fire roasted corn, corn bread and chili, and water melon. and for desert we had caramel apples and apple pie. it was most enjoyable. four of the seniors had worship. they talked about trusting in the Lord and not worrying.
a most enjoyable weekend and evening.

i found out Wednesday that i could take some guys and go camping! so i am taking 9 of the guys and going to the Stryen cabin. i really enjoy it up there. its so peaceful. so that's the highlight of this weekend. then when we get back on Sunday we are going to have a big picnic for the whole campus. big corn roast and every thing. going to be fun :)

Sep 10

well, just finished another class. we are studying about the sanctuary. it is so fascinating how every thing points to Jesus as our Redeemer. today we studied about the curtains and colors. great stuff. did you know that the curtain in front of the Most Holy Place was 4 in. thick? and that it was replaced every year? you lean some thing new every day.
the weather is awesome today. no clouds what so ever. i think i will go for a walk later.
some crazy stuff has happened in the last couple of weeks. three friends have had babies. another friend got engaged and two friends have had deaths in their families.
its lunch time, and i am hungry, plus i have to supervise. its so hard supervising lunch. its a rough job, but somebody has to do it :)
