i finally have internet!!! the wireless here at the dorm hasent been working, but Robert fixed it this after noon, and that makes me happy :) so now i can post some photos i was going to put up last time.
yester day i took one of the students to lytton for a doctors appointment. while we were there a fire got out of hand and came right up to the road and even jumped across it. so they closed the road so they could work on the fire. so we were stuck in town. well, with all our free time we decided to see what we could see. so we headed toward Botney valley. it is very beautiful up there. well, the higher we got the more snow there was. there was about 18 in of snow. suddenly it went from a gravel road to just two tire tracks. a little later we got stuck :( so we spent the next hour and a half getting un stuck. some of the high lights include almost going off a hill to getting stuck on the other side of the road, driving backwards for almost two km. i looked at my mirror and the student stuck his head out the window and gave me directions. "your way, my way a little, more your way." and finally trying to do a power turn to turn around. at the end some random guy came by in a 4x4 and helped give us a final push to get out. right after we got going straight there was a big hill that would would have never mad up if we had been going backward. and about the time it got really dark.
we were praising the Lord the whole time. i am really glad we got out and didnt have to spend the night out there :)
went we got back to town we picked up a hich hiker and he said they had just opened the road back up :) so we didnt waist to much time :) glad it all worked out well.

it has been crazy this whole last week, even over the weekend. friday we finished seth's bed. it didnt turn out as good as i was hoping, but i did learn a lot more about building beds. a few more and i will be a professional.
sabbath i got recruited to go on the hike. it was fun, but turned into more of an adventure then i was anticipating. three hours of intense hiking. we tried to follow the river around on the shore, but it was too steep. it got pretty hairy a couple of times, but we all made it through with no casualties:) that evening we watched "the living desert." an old movie about some cool animals of the desert. its a classic.
then i slept in the lobby sabbath night, then caught up on what i missed the rest of the morning. sunday afternoon i took a couple of guys to get wood from Burt's and took it up to Jaycee's place. it was cold up there, about 0 F. while we were there she gave me one of Burt's old knives, a real treasure.
well, i am sleeping in the lobby again to night. got to love my job ;) i wouldent trade it for anything.
i tried adding some photos, but it wouldent work. so i will try tomorrow.

another grand day. ryan invited me out for lunch at the Stryen cabin. the food was good. he had peanut butter sandwiches and i had stroganoff and ramon. we both had oranges for desert. but we both decided that we will have to find another place for lunch for next time. for one thing the service was terrible. we couldent get a table for nothing. the the waiter never came to take our orders, so i had to start the fire and cook my pasta all by my self! terrible. it was so bad i didnt even leave a tip. mostly because i never got a ticket and didnt know what the gratuity was :) pluse it took us forever to get there. its pretty far out there :) the one great thing about it was the view. breath taking! literally, it was so cold that you could bearly take a breath :)
only about a foot and a half of snow.
i got some cedar and am planning on making another box. should be fun.
when we got back seth asked if i wanted to go work out with him......... i just looked at him.
the stryen valley is on the left and the stien is on the right

the ferry we have to cross to get to the other side of the river
the cabin
an awesome mountain
lots of frost

yesterday i pealed a bunch of logs and got all tired. then today i helped seth peal a bunch more for his bunk bed (a student has to move in with him because we have to many guys for second semester) so now i am incredibly sore and tired.
on the way up to the dorm after lunch i saw this awesome little owl. he was real cool.
tonight for worship the guy who was so post to do it didnt realize what time it started and showed up late. so i grabbed my Bible and opened to james ch. 3, faith with out works is dead. what good is our faith if we dont use it? the devils even believe in God, and what good does it do for them? we need to act on our knowledge and our relationship with God. i remembered what you always say andrew, be ready in season and out of season :)
tomorrow i am going with ryan to check out a spot for the winter camp out. should be fun.
well, i am tired and have a full day ahead of me. see ya all later. God bless.

its been a big day. not only did i get a lot of fun stuff done in the shop, and am helping seth build a bunk bed (he has to have a student live with him now:( but i also got a hair cut! o, and the president got sworn in too.
sabbath evening burt passed away:( he was a good man. 96 years old! less then three weeks from his birthday. i am really sad about all of that. but i guess it has to happen some time.
i was just thinking this afternoon, what ever we do in life will require us to work with other people. learning how people work and how to interact with them should be a vital part of every ones education. i have decided to pay more attention to how i interact with those around me.
well, i am trying to get to bed earlier on a more consistent basis. lonny is doing wake up now, so that's a blessing. i am not much of a morning person.

i have been getting sick for the last couple of days and it is official now, i am sick :( you think thats bad wait until you hear how my last couple of days have gone. i had yesterday off, but i was talking with a student till late monday night and didnt arrange for some one else to do wake up, so i woke up at 5:30 like normal to do that. thankfully i was able to ask luke if he would be so kind as to finish wake up for me. but i couldent really get back to sleep. then last night i couldent get to sleep because i was sick. i took a hot and cold shower and didnt get to sleep until about 12. then some one messed up my alarm clock (i am not sure who did it yet). i set it for 5:30 but it was actually 4:30. i didnt find out until 5 and by then it was to late to get back to sleep. so i have been sick and tired all day. o well. life goes on. thankfully mrs roque will do wake up in the morning, so i am going to sleep in a little.
its been could lately. i am going to have to start wearing warmer clothes. i am glad i made a scarf, it has come in handy.
well, have a great rest of your week. God bless.

i love my days off :) not that i dont like my days on, but there is something special about having a break every now and again. unfortunately i stayed up late last night and didnt arrange for some one else to do wake up for me, so my alarm went off at 5:30 and i woke up a couple of guys early, and thankfully luke was just out side his room when i came down stairs so i asked him to do the rest of the wake up calls. he is such a grand guy. then i went to town real quick, came back and ate lunch, then went down to the shop for a few hours. autumn's birth day was today so we all went over to ewa's place for supper. fun times.
i finally posted a couple of itams on etsy. my name is larsoninc. we will see if they sell :)
i think i am getting sick :( o well, thats what happens, i will just have to press on.
well, have a great rest of your week. God bless.

a whole week of school already over! i am so happy to be back at fountainview! i had a good time at home, but its really good to be back.
its been a busy week. the first day back we had student life meeting. the second day i had class and helped Elain with an interview. yesterday i spent over 4 hours in town with Elain going back and forth between the doctor and the pharmacy and some other stops. and today i helped her with another interview. so its been busy, but so enjoyable.
i have been reading a lot in James the last bit. i now think its probably my favorite book. there is tons of awesome verse in there. "count it all joy," "quick to listen, slow to speak," "be a hearer and not just a doer," "faith with out works is dead," "draw near to God and He will draw near to you," " drawn away by your own lusts." and tons more! just some absolutely awesome stuff.
well, Happy Sabbath and have a great new week! :)

the year in review:
its been a long year. the guys that keep the time added an extra second to 2008 so that it all matches up right :)
i have so really enjoyed working at fountainview this year. i thank God every day that He has brought me there. every day i learn something new. i do realize that i have a lot more to learn, and a lot of it i feel i should have already learned :) but God has been good to me so far and i know He will continue to lead me.
i have some things i plan on focusing on in the coming year. i really want to focus more time on reading and studying about child development and counseling. i want to devote more time to working one on one with the guys in the dorm. i dont want this to just be another job. this is what i do. and by God's grace He will give me the wisdome and strength to do it.
well, break has been good. its been nice to catch up on some sleep. its also been nice to spend a little time with the family. on christmas eve the whole family got together, which dosent happen very often, so that was a good thing. other then that things have been pretty relaxing around here. the weather has been pretty good too.
jeremy leaves for nebraska tomorrow and i head out early monday morning so mom and dad are going to have an empty house again.
i hope that you have seen God's hand leading in your life this last year and i pray He will continue to lead.
