Dec 2

well, its been a pretty full week and a half. i was able to get some time off in order to go home and see all of my family. my younger brother and his wife and kid were coming out to visit for thanksgiving so i flew down and surprised mom and dad. after spending a couple of days with my sister we all went over to our oldest brother's house where we were gong to have dinner. every one else went in while i stayed around the corner. then i called my mom on the cell phone. while we were talking small talk i rang the door bell. every one else acted busy and asked her to answer the door. she had a blank stare for about three seconds and then let out a very loud scream. she was pretty happy;)
my niece is pretty cute. her name is Lilly. dad was holding her for part of the time while we were eating and she looked at someone across the table with this confused, bewildered, unhappy, disappointed look. then she proceeded to go down the row and look at every single person on the other side that way. we were all busting up laughing.
Friday we got family photos, which we hadn't done for at least 5 years.
the last few days were pretty restful. got a new laptop on Sunday. i cracked the screen on my other one :( very sad. other then that didn't do a whole ton. pretty restful. now i am with the school on our Christmas tour. fun stuff.
Merry Christmas.

Nov 16

i had worship for our deans meeting this morning and i took 1 Cor. and rewrote it from a deans point of view.hope you enjoy it.

1. Though I can deliver a great worship talk, but have not love I
sound just like the class bell.
2. And though I have great intuition, and can tell what a student is
thinking, and have wonderful advice at all times, and have not love, I
am nothing.
3. And though I work for little pay and pour all my energies into
planning activities and have not love, I am nothing.
4. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not
parade itself, is not puffed up;
5. Dose not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked,
thinks no evil;
6. Does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7. Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8. Love never gives up. but our own intuition, it will fail, our own
words will fall short, our own understanding will not be complete.
9. We make judgments on the information we have.
10. But in the end God will make all things known, and our own ideas
will pass away.
11. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I
thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish
things.
12. Now we cant really see whats going on in the heart, its like a dim
glass, but soon God is going to make it all clear in His time.
13. And now the only three things that matter are faith, hope, and
love. But the greatest of these is love.

this last weekend Angelia and I took 12 students up to the Stryen cabin. let me tell you it was an adventure. took us 2 and a half hours to hike up friday night. it was misting but we kept moving so it was alright. that night it snowed about three inches that night. very pretty. for church we did solo time and then went for a hike in the afternoon. but Sabbath night was when the fun started. one of the girls got confused in the dark and grabbed the bear spray instead of a water bottle and sprayed it in her face. four girls got it really bad. so we had to take care of them and wait for the cabin to air out. that was crazy to say the least. but we must praise the Lord because all of the girls were almost 100 % better the next day!!!! then the rat visited the girls. theni had to rebuild the fire and i put wet wood on the stove to dry, which caught fire in about 45 min later :) but we were able to put in out right away. on sunday i lost the bar nut to the chain saw. four of us guys looked for it for about 15 min and right when i gave up one of the guys found it. sunday afternoon on the way down one of the girls had gotten some bear spray on her shirt and she couldent carry her pack. so i carried it most of the way down. all in all it was a great weekend. and we are all the better for it. the most amazing this is that even with all the crazy and dangerious thing that happend at the end of the day all is well. no last effects. its all by the grace of God. praise His name.

Alonna and Ceri asked me a bit ago to build them a cat house. so this is what i came up with. i designed it so that the left side swung open to allow easy access to the inside. but my favorite part of it is the cat paw on the front. its the final touch :)

this is my new horse! his name is Dooley. i got him right after school started. he is such a blessing. he is eight years old, so some times he act just like a teenager, which i am already pretty used to dealing with that age group :) i get to ride him four days a week. he is not actually all mine. i am kind of borrowing him from a lady across the river. she doesn't have enough time to ride him, and i do. so it works out great. but she said if i wanted him she would give him to me.
i am also learning out to trip his hoofs, which is pretty neat. when i get good enough i am do all the horses here (four total) and get paid to do that ;)

May 24

its been a while.
this weekend grandpa Folkengurg was here and spoke for us. he talked about the basic principals for Christianity. it was very refreshing.
this morning i went to the shop and finished my chair! its pretty cool. i learned some good principals about how to do the next one.
this afternoon we had a nice picnic in the orchard. i put up my slack lines and some of the kids had fun with them.

April 1

My new chair. it was harder then i though to make the back and arms.

my bookends. i think they look pretty cool.
they aren't perfect, but then again i have never made anything perfect. my two boxes.
i am going to give the one on the right to my sister for her wedding. i think she is going to like it :)

a new month! very exciting.
this is going to be one full month. a few of us are going to go snowboarding next Tuesday. then i am going to leave on Wednesday to go to my sisters wedding, which will be on Sunday. then Sunday night i am going to meet up with the rest of the group on our three week filming tour. that's almost a moth that i am going to be gone from Fountainview.
Matt Para is here doing a week of prayer. i really appreciate his messages. i am really glad he was able to come.
yesterday i was at the shop again. i made a couple of benches and then decided to put a back rest on one of them. it turned out pretty good. and i also finished my bookends. they were so cool i decided to make two more sets. i used pine this time so i wouldn't cut my finger again :)
i have also been working on and off on two ceder boxes. last fall up at Stryn i cut down a tree to make shakes. i brought down a chunk and split off some thin "boards" and made two boxes. i sanded them up nice and lined them with padding and fabric. all i need to do now is finish the wood.

Mar 25

i am so glad everyone is back. it is so nice to not have to do everything :)
last week when i flew into Seattle Seth and i went to REI and i got a 30 foot section of webbing for a slack line. its been warming up lately (i am very thankful for that) so i decided to set it up for the first time yesterday. today Seth joined me and took some pictures. it a ton of fun, as i am sure you know since all cool people have tried it at lease once ;)
(i have to admit i did steal the idea from Andrew, since every thing Andrew does is cool, and i want to be just like him when i grow up ;)

in tuesday i picked up a scroll saw magazine. i have never used a scroll saw before, but it looked cool so i decided to try it out. thankfully our shop is fulling equipped and has one. so yesterday i tried it out a little bit to get the feel of it and then today i tried to actually make something. it cost me dearly, and i am not quite finished yet but i wanted to show you anyway.

Mar 17

its been a while since i have written anything, so i am going to make up for it now.
i left early Wednesday morning to head to Nebraska. after pleasant travels i finally made it to my brothers apartment at 1 am. the next morning i went over to the dorm to see some of my friends there (Derek and Erik). i went to their old room and saw someone sleeping on the bed. i was about to jump on them before i realized that i didn't know him! they had moved to another room :) so i hung out with them for a bit. it was great to see them again. i saw a few other guys i know but it took them a bit to remember me. i keep forgetting that the last time they saw me i had long hair.
Thursday night Jeremy, Ryan (the best man) and i had a little party for Jeremy. we had pizza and soda and watched TV. then we went bowling. a couple of other people joined us too. i haven't been bowling since college but i still had one of my highest scores (125, i am not all that good :). Derek got his own bowling shoes and bowling ball. so i said "you know you have been in Nebraska too long when you buy your own bowling equipment."
Friday we had the rehearsal. i don't think they had very much organized ahead of time. the pastor would ask a question and they would just say "we will have to work that out." it was great. dad and grandpa drove all the way from California, and arrived during the rehearsal. it was a long trip. the directions for the trip went like this: "get on hwy 80 and travel for 1600 miles." cant get too lost with directions like that :)
Sabbath i went to see my old boss. his son answered the door and then went to get his dad, so i went inside and closed the door. when Lance came down the stairs it took him a bit to recognize me. we talked for over two hours. great fun.
the whole family went out sabbath night. grandpa bought Jeremy a new mattress. grandpa really wanted ice cream so went to a place called Culver's. we all got ice cream and french fries, onion rings and cheese curds. i like cheese curds better fresh then fried.
Sunday morning we went to ihop. right after that we all got dressed and ready for the wedding.
they wedding was nice, short, and to the point. as soon as Jeremy and Beka got settled up front the pastor wanted to break the tension so he decided to get a picture with them. it was pretty cool.
so at 1:42 p.m. Sunday the 15th of March, 2009 Jeremy and Rebeca were officially announced husband and wife.
and now i am back at school :) i really needed that time to take a break. i feel rested and rejuvenated. i am now ready to get back to work. which is good because there are only four of us deans for a week. every one else went to Arizona for Sondra's wedding. they should have have a great time in warm and sunny Arizona.
well, that's about it. hope you all had a good weekend and are ready to have a great week :)

sorry, the pictures are all backwards. start at the bottom and work up.

Jenni and i decorated their room for them. rose petals and candles. the room had a night and fair maiden theme.

Mar 10

i am leaving tonight! i am very excited that i am getting some time off. i have been pretty tired lately and it will be nice to have a break. unfortunately it will be short lived because as soon as i get back it will be just me and one other dean for a whole week. o well, that's how things work.
my brother is getting married on Sunday. then my sister is getting married next month. so i get some extra time off for once.
the weather has been terrible here. not only is it cold but its windy too. and only 12 days till spring. i can hardly wait!!
we had a quick birthday party yesterday for ceri, seth, and ryan. some good food :) but it was also a nice time to let them know how much we appreciat them and their hard work.
well, thats about it. pray i have a safe trip and that i can be a good example for my old friends back at union.

Mar 3

this one didnt turn out as well as i would have liked, but its all good.
my first bench and my tenon cutters.

pealing logs :)

day off! i was able to sleep in a bit, which i always enjoy. then i took the truck up curby flats to get some wood. see, i got some new toys, and boy are they nice to have. they are basically like big pencil sharpeners. they are used to cut tenons for mortise and tenon joints. i have been experimenting with rustic furniture. and boy its fun! so i spent the rest of the day shaving logs to dry out and use later. so far i have made one bench and an end table. but more is on the way soon.

Feb 27

man, this has been a rough week. i took my turn at being sick for a couple of days. thankfully it was short, but far from sweet. but today i felt so much better!
today was shop day! i love shop day. i got some tenon cutters and wanted to see them at work. and they work great. so well that i decided to make something, so i made a bench. and it turned out great! i didnt have my camera but i will get a photo soon. it turned out well for a first try.
for vespers tonight we had a defend your faith session. all the students really enjoyed it. some of my students are finally realizing why we are talking about the stuff we do in class :)

Feb 25

Snow!
the tide pools

church

quail

perfect sunset.

i have been sick the last few days so i havent been able to write anything. i cant sleep right now so i figured i might as well do something with my time.
the weather at Rosario was way better this year. last year it rained, but this year was clear and warm. friday night gave us the most beautiful sun set i have seen in a long time. in fact i am not sure if i have ever seen anything better. it made me very happy that i had my camera.
on sabbath i was out by myself and saw a flock of quail. they were very cute.
we had about 130 people that attended church. quite a large group.
two of our deans wernt able to come with us. one's family was sick and the other one was sick himself. so we were short staffed to begin with. but by sunday morning about half the students were feeling pretty bad. so we had to leave early. ceri and seth got really sick too. i was the only dean on the bus coming back. i want through the bus three times passing out vit C and oil of oregano. felt like we were in a hospital on wheels :) but now i am sick, but i think i am getting better. i tryed to teach class today, but the students were so tired and i didnt have any energy, so i turned off the lights and gave every one a nap time.

it feels like winter is finally here. it snowed on monday, but that quickly melted. but it snowed again today. we only have about and inch or so, but down in lytton they have three feet!

i think thats about it. i am really hoping i feel better by tomorrow. i will be the only dean on :( but God is good, so i cant complain.
