Today was Leighton’s birthday. And of course we had to get him a cake. So two of the guys and me grabbed a bus and headed into town. We found a bakery and got them to put his name on it. Then grabbed another bus and booked it back. He really appreciated it :)
Tonight was the first night of the campaigns. I was able to accompany Cam and Becky to their church. The pastor picked us up in an awesome 4X4. And we sure needed it. We traveled for about 40 min on this crazy narrow bumpy jungle road. The power lines went from 6 wires to 4 wires to 1 wire. Then we went through a gate and parked literally at the end of the road. It’s a little village of about 200, and about 50 are Adventists. The pastor has 4 churches and 4 branch Sabbath schools. And he belongs to an Adventist 4X4 club!
We ate supper at the head elder’s house. Then we went over to the church and got started. About 30 people showed up, including about 8 little kids. They were very happy and excited yet very respectful when the meeting started. Cam did an awesome job preaching.
On the way back there was a python laying in the middle of the road! It was about three feet long and fat :) (it had just eaten).
And then to finish off Friday in our traditional way we stood out in the parking lot and sang "I want to go to heaven."
