Sabbath March 19

we got to sleep in this morning! It felt so good to get the extra rest.

We had breakfast at 7:30. After I finished eating I went back to the kitchen sinks to see if I could help with doing the dishes. I have done this at almost every meal but there have already been enough people working that I can’t fit in. but no one was there, so I finally got to do my fair share :)

After breakfast and a quick worship we split up for the day. About half of the students went to church and the rest of us went on a hike. We followed a river downstream for about forty five minutes until we came to a wonderful water fall. It was really pretty. I found a place where I could climb down while everyone else found a trail and went around. After lunch seven of us guys floated down the river a while. It was wonderful! So pretty. Soon we realized that it was going to take us a while to get back up so we got out and decided to try and walk up the back. But lo and behold there was a dirt road right next to the river! So we followed it almost all the way back until it turned away and then walked in the river the rest. I was able to climb up the way I had come down, then four other guys followed. Then we all had a wonderful trek back to the vans.

We got back to camp just after three. We had a concert scheduled at 6 at the same place where we filmed the first day. But right before we left one of the guys wasn’t feeling so well so I got to stay back with him. After everyone left we went for a small hike up the hill behind the camp. It was a very nice hike. Through some of it we went through thick ferns and suddenly it would open up and we would be walking through a tunnel of thin threes that over hung the trail. We were able to get a good view of the camp and the surrounding area. There are wild boars all over the island and we saw their tracks everywhere.

At supper time we went down to the cafĂ© and had supper with one of the girl’s deans and a sick girl who also stayed back. It was nice and peaceful to only have four to eat with instead of 120. Right when we were finishing up the power went out. Reminded me of Canada :) So we just went back to the cabins and relaxed for the rest of the evening. I did some reading and listened to music. It was super nice to have a good, and quiet, rest.

The rest of the group got back round 9:30. They brought back a very favorable report. We only brought cheap recording instruments but they said it sounded great. Truly a miracle. We have one more concert the last Sabbath we are here. We have been passing out flyers to everyone who stops by to watch us film.

Rec day tomorrow. Looking forward to it.
