March 25 day 11

we got to sleep in until 7:30!!!! it felt sooo good. after worship and breakfast we had about an hour until we loaded up and headed out to our activities for the day. my group went to the mall and a bunch of us got rash guards. we all got pretty beat up last Sunday and were not interested in a repeat. and i got some wax to put on our boards so we wouldn't slip off so bad. then we all headed to the beach.
when we first got there the waves weren't so good, but they picket up pretty quick. we were all having a grand time. someone gave us some hints and it made it that much better. i was having a ton of fun.
last week some of the kids had said they had seen some sea turtles out beyond the waves. but every time i got out there i could never find them. but this time i saw one stick its head up. it was really neat to finally see one.
after a while i was starting to feel comfortable and decided to go back to shore and grab my camera to take some pictures.
i had seen the life guards doing some practicing earlier so when i saw some people standing around someone on the ground i didn't think much of it. then i noticed that some people from our group were there so i decided to go take a look. then i saw who was on the ground: Mr. Lemon. (before i build up too much anticipation i will tell you the end turns out well, don't worry) he had been at the top of a wave and it dropped him straight down and he hit his head on the sand. he felt very dazed and tried to stumble out of the water. one of the students supported him up the beach where he laid down. some of our people saw him and came over to see if he was all right. he was able to move around fine but they called the ambulance anyway. i was asked to ride with him to the hospital. about half way to the hospital we hit some traffic so the driver had to turn on the siren. it was great fun :)
the nurses and doctor were great! they were friendly, helpful, and efficient. something funny was that every time and new person came in they would always ask him the same questions. he had to tell his story and personal info almost a dozen times! they were able to get him right into get a CT scan. that turned out fine but his neck was still tender so they gave him a MRI. he couldn't move, not even swallow for 20 minutes! he said he spent the whole time praying. the MRI didn't show anything so they gave him a tempary brace and sent him home. he was very sore! the Broussons have been visiting here and came to the hospital for the last half of our time there. after picking up some food and the prescriptions they took us to were they are staying so Mr. Lemon could have a comfortable and quiet place to recover. then they took me back to the camp so we could pick up some of his stuff. by the time we were all done it was 8 pm. i am not sure when all this started, but i think some time between 2 and 3 pm.
we are all praising the Lord for taking good care of Mr. Lemon! God is so good.
by the time i got back almost all the students had already headed to their cabins. but Mr. James, as usual, was working hard at organizing vehicles for tomorrow. so i stared helping him. through out the waning hours of the evening some of the deans joined us and we spent most of our time talking and having some fun down time :) we don't get to do that often enough. we were finally done by about 11pm.
